Engr. Tunji Akinosi Decries Assault Charges

The Honorable-elect for Ado-Odo/Ota Federal Constituency, Engineer Tunji Akinosi has described an assault allegation as a wicked lie by an attention seeking upstart social media heckler. This was detailed in a press release made available to our correspondents.

Hon. Akinosi disclosed an incident which happened on Monday 1st day of the month of May, 2023 involving his chauffeur and a hawker during a traffic jam at Onikan Lagos. The hawker’s name, a young man has not been disclosed.

The hawker destroyed Akinosi’s side mirror in a bid to sell his wares in the notorious Lagos bustling traffic, and then feigned injury in front of the car. Akinosi’s chauffeur accosted him for reparations but passer-by ignorant of what happened gathered as a mob in sympathy with the young man demanded compensation. The day was however saved by bystanders who were actual witnesses to the incident.

In the course of bystanders intervention, the hawker admitted to getting in the car’s way, breaking the side mirror as well as faking injury and provocation because he was afraid he could not afford reparations. He also apologized profusely for his indiscretion.

Akinosi therefore found it worrisome that a social media heckler seeking clout recorded the incident without his permission, posted it and then accused him of damaging her phone. He equally requires the public to disregard all insinuations arising from this incident.

Africa Signal recalls increasing wave of social media blackmail as a result of weak regulations and law enforcement in Nigeria. It will be recalled that the just concluded general elections in Lagos and Ogun States were driven by propaganda devised by opposition parties.

No further action has been disclosed as at the time of filing this report. Engineer Akinosi will be inducted as a federal parliamentarian in the next few weeks.
