The FCT Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) on Tuesday held a press conference announcing its forthcoming Annual General Meeting.
According to the Chairman FCT Chapter, HRH (Dr.) Tayo Haastrup, Nigerians need to work on the kind of leadership that they need, and NIPR is focused on leading that charge.
Haastrup noted that “failure in political leadership has resulted in underdevelopment and lack of good succession plan for young people, so resources could not be deployed for the greater benefit of our people. That is why we are not living up to global expectations despite our human resources”.
He said “NIPR FCT is initiating the process of national rebirth through the 2019 AGM platform, to enable stakeholders generate insights on the type of leadership Nigerians must seek, in other to resolve poverty, rapid urbanization, regional integration, gender inequality, food insecurity, violent conflicts, political fragmentation and other national challenges”.
The theme for the AGM is “The Leadership Question: Search for 21 Century Leaders”. The event will take place on the 5th to 7th of November, 2019 at designated venues in Nigeria’s capital city of Abuja.
In a separate development, Dr. Peter Oyeneye, Chairman of NIPR FCT 2019 Electoral Committee has announced candidates vying for positions in the next Executive Committee will present their manifesto at the Chapter’s monthly meeting later today.
