The Lagos edition of Africa Education Technology Fair (AFRICA EDTECH) is set to hold on the 28th and 29th of June 2019 at Muson Center, Onikan Lagos. The theme of the event is “Application of Technology to Enhance Human Capacity Development and Innovation in Africa”.

Africa Education Technology Fair is a flagship initiative of Brainiacs STEM & Robotics (a leading education technology company with operations across Nigeria), and her partners to nurture the next generation of technology entrepreneurs in Africa.

The Fair aims at bringing key players, policy makers, and service providers in area of education technology across to the globe to exchange ideas, showcase their solutions and collaborate towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SGDs) in areas of high-quality education (SGD 4), Clean Water (SDG 6) and Sustainable cities (SDG 11 ) towards the development of a more prosperous society.

The event will feature design thinking competition, hackathon, panel discussions, keynote speeches, and teachers training.



Participating schools will be required to design solutions for problems affecting certain cities in Africa. To participate in the competition, schools must register at www.edtechAfrica360.org/designthinking. Selected schools in both primary and secondary school categories will undergo a 90 days incubation and mentorship by industry professionals across the globe. The incubation process will feature mentorship in design thinking, building of prototypes for selected challenges, mobile app development, technical report writing and presentation skills.


Africa EDTECH Lagos 2019 hackathon will focus on capacity building skills related to complex problem-solving ability, critical thinking, cognitive flexibility, people management skills and creativity skills preparing them for future employability. Participants are required to develop a mobile app application that will learning for children with autism. 


The Fair will feature keynote presentations and panel discussions on issues, opportunities and challenges affecting integration of technology to education in Africa. Education technology start-ups, solution providers, schools, bookshops and other solution providers will have the opportunity to exhibit their products and services.

The event will attract over 1000 visitors across Africa and Europe. Brainiacs STEM & Robotics will also feature its innovative and highly engaging STEM Village which includes Virtual Reality, Robotics, drone technology, coding, animation and innovative science experiences, earmarked as an unprecedented display of STEM content in Nigeria. It will be a fun day of learning for children and admission will be absolutely free.


AFRICA EDTECH (Lagos) 2019 will feature a comprehensive 2-day training and seminar for teachers in primary and secondary schools. Teachers will have the opportunity to learn about integrating technology tools such as virtual reality (VR), robotics, coding and other related STEM tools to aid understand and enhance pupils’ engagement.
